InterAction Forum: AVN invited to Washington meeting on international cooperation

Amarys Preuss, AVN’s Director of Development, was part of a delegation of French NGO’s invited to Washington in June for the annual InterAction Forum, an American network of NGO’s working in the fields of international development and solidarity. This meeting was organised through the Service de Coopération et d’Action Culturelle (SCAC) of the French Embassy and Coordination Sud (the French equivalent of InterAction).

The Forum welcomed many notable participants, including ex-President Bill Clinton, who stressed in his speech the the importance of international cooperation for construction of a better future. The NGO’s present took part in conferences and workshops on various themes: partnerships, funding innovations, social impact etc. - subjects on which AVN and others were able to share their experience.

In addition, the French Embassy had organised a training day on fund-raising from public and private organisations in the US, an opportunity for AVN to update its current strategy and open up new funding perspectives.

AVN thanks the SCAC, Coordination Sud and InterAction for this constructive experience and hopes to get more involved in future exchanges, maybe an opportunity to organise, with the Embassy, an event aimed at raising awareness amongst the US public about AVN’s development programme in the Sahel.
