Sheikh Zayed Project Diakré Village

Mauritanie

Between 2014 and 2017, AVN supported the creation of the first entirely VN village, implemented by the NGOs Banlieues du Monde and Le Partenariat, thanks to funding from the Dubai Charity Association. Located on the border between Senegal and Mauritania, on the banks of the Senegal River, the Sheikh Zayed Village   in Diakré consists of 51 private houses, a mosque, a literacy center, and a maternity ward. The beneficiaries of the project are Mauritanian refugees who left the country during the war. These families previously lived in precarious conditions, under tin roofs that are now used as stables for their animals.
In July 2017, En Haut, a Mauritanian company, took some magnificent aerial shots, which were featured in a video report on  .
