National & international advocacy
AVN is actively lobbying at national and international level to promote Nubian Vaulting as a sustainable housing solution, adapted to the environmental and socio-economic challenges of the Sahel. The aim is to integrate NVA into public policies and development programs.
national advocacy
Public and private actors in the housing and construction sector (ministries, public agencies, local authorities, international lenders, etc.) are responsible for housing issues, whether they relate to economic, legislative, vocational training and employment, environmental impacts, or adaptation to climate change.
AVN has a real interest in ensuring that its program is ultimately supported by legitimate institutional actors, thereby enabling it to: :
- take on the role of a local operator for the implementation of local development plans;
- enable the emergence of a formal market supported by community construction needs and thus participate in the establishment of VN in construction practices and customs.
AVN therefore encourages political actors to support the VN market and integrate it into national and regional development plans as well as national construction programs.
International advocacy
AVN also conducts international advocacy work on housing issues for the general public and for the transformation of construction practices in Africa.
AVN's presence at numerous large-scale events (COP Climate, COP Desertification, Climate Chance, World Urban Forum, etc.) enables it to raise its profile on the international stage and present its cross-cutting program integrating the interrelated issues of access to housing, economic development, vocational training, micro-entrepreneurship, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and improvement of living and working conditions and access to basic services.
Manifesto for adapted housing in Africa
At COP21, AVN proposed the Manifesto for Adapted Housing in the Sahelian Africa.
