AVN has been present in Burkina Faso since 2000, the start of the program, and ~ 70% of our impacts have been in this country. The AVN-BF team runs the national program from Boromo (centre-West).
AVN has been present in Mali since 2007, and around 25% of our impacts are here. AVN-Mali, based in Ségou, organizes our regional programs and provides support to national partners.
AVN launched in Senegal in 2008, and so far projects here count for around 5% of total impacts. With a local NGO 'Le Partenariat', a program has been opened in the region of Podor. AVN does not yet have a permanent base in Senegal.
In 2011, AVN launched a program in the north of Benin with a franchise partner, Dassari Bénéfiz, in the region of Natitingou).
As a result of an exploratory mission in 2010, AVN, in partnership with the NGO Ecoles du Monde, sent a NV mason to build two test houses in Tananarive and Majunga. We are now in a follow-up and evaluation phase.
AVN would like to see the NV concept applied in as many countries as appropriate, and is open to relevant suggestions and approaches.
So far, NV masons have worked on pilot projects in Togo, Rwanda and northern Ivory Coast. Others are expected to go to Guinea Conakry and Mauritania, and many contacts are currently being explored for these and other projects.
