From 2002 to 2006, the Association des Constructeurs pour la Réhabilitation et l’Optimisation de la Terre helped in the early development of the programme, in particular for securing insitutional support. Acroterre also provided technical advice to the programme.
Olivier Scherrer, project director at Acroterre, carried out two evluation studies of the programme in March 2003 and January 2004, which provided us with valuable inputs.

The neighbourhood Associations of Tanghin and Gounghin in Ouagadougou, twinned with those of Villeneuve and Berriat in Grenoble have constructed demonstration buildings for several projects.
As a result of contacts made between the Mayor of Grenoble and his team, and the mayor of Ouagadougou and the directors of the SIAO, two attractive VN show vaults were built inside the site of the Salon. The SIAO exhibitions, over the last two years, have provided an excellent showcase for the AVN’s vision of an alternative architecture for the Sahel.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided substantive co-financing to the AVN over three years(2003-2005), which helped to launch the Earth roofs in the Sahel programme.
